  • We held a training workshop with the Centro Luz en Casa entrepreneurs in the Ngäbe-Buglé indigenous region in Panama.
  • The entrepreneurs responsible of the four centres currently in operation participated in this training session in Nuestra Señora del Camino foundation, at San Felix, in Chiriquí province.

We began to provide households in the Ngäbe-Buglé indigenous region with access to the electricity basic service of Luz en Casa in 2018. Today, about 8,000 people have access to this service in more than 1,400 households due to the projects that we have implemented in partnership with AECID –the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation–.

Beneficiaries of Luz en Casa Ngäbe-Buglé have a Centro Luz en Casa in a reference locality from their community, where going to receive advice and several services, besides buying electric devices that are compatible with the third generation solar home systems providing them with the electricity.

There are 4 operative centres owned by entrepreneurs who already had their small shops where they give different services and that are suitable to add the Centro Luz en Casa services at the localities of Chichica, Cerro Caña, Umani and Llano Majagua. These entrepreneurs were identified and trained to attend to beneficiaries of Luz en Casa Ngäbe-Buglé in 37 communities in Müna district.

Recently, we called the first workshop for the owners of the Luz en Casa centres in Ngäbe-Buglé region, which was developed in Nuestra Señora del Camino Foundation, at the locality of San Félix, in Chiriquí province.

Thus, the entrepreneurs coming from their centres could meet each other and interchange feelings and experiences. Efrain, responsible of the first Centro Luz en Casa opened at Chichica, explained his work during the last year.

During the workshop, the entrepreneurs also attended a practical training session with the aim of updating on knowledge, solving questions and working on guided exercises of managing and reporting the services offered, as well as in the use of the supporting applications and platforms.

The event ended with the receipt of the certificates recognizing the training, which will make easier the activity of the entrepreneurs in charge of these centres by making them more efficient.
