Anjelo Ramírez, a workmate at ACCIONA Energia in Chile, has been the first in-person volunteer of the acciona.org Foundation in 2023. He has supported acciona.org as a volunteer for the second time: five years ago, he went to Cajamarca, in Peru, to collaborate in the maintenance and the installation of solar home systems of the first Luz en Casa programme, which was started 14 years ago, and which is still bringing the electricity basic service to about 16,000 people in Cajamarca isolated rural communities.

On this occasion, he collaborated for 2 weeks with the Luz en Casa programme that acciona.org develops in the Panama indigenous region Ngäbe-Buglé. This initiative -being inspired by the same pillars of innovation, participation, sustainability, and affordability of the first Luz en Casa- is tailored to the current available technologies and the context of the Panama rural areas.

Anjelo has supported acciona.org in testing solar home systems, providing new households with those systems and attending failures and repairing pieces of equipment, which are managed through the Luz en Casa Centres owned by small-sized local entrepreneurs, who give proximity attendance to the benefited households. Thus, Anjelo has contributed to extend and strengthen this initiative that benefits about 18,000 people and that is growing in the Panama indigenous region Ngäbe-Buglé.
