- acciona.org and other Spanish organizations have formed as an association the MAUE (Universal Energy Access Table), an initiative created in 2014 with the Foundation as one of its promoters.
- The MAUE seeks full access to energy in the world in line with the first target of SDG7.
On March 2nd, the constitution of the MAUE (Universal Energy Access Table) as an association was signed. The event was held at the University of Comillas and was attended by representatives of the founding organizations: Ingenieros ICAI para el desarrollo Foundation, Energía sin Fronteras Foundation, Wayvolution S.L, Trama Tecnoambiental, S.L (TTA), Comillas Pontifical University and acciona.org Foundation.
MAUE members have been collaborating and developing different initiatives to exchange information and jointly develop energy access projects since 2014. Now, as an association, MAUE is working to make universal energy access a reality.
The Universal Energy Access Table (MAUE) works for universal access to energy through sustainable energy. The approaches and actions are focused on reaching isolated rural communities, where poverty and lack of basic services are concentrated. It works where conventional power grids are not expected to reach, so the solutions are based on off-grid systems. The MAUE association and acciona.org share the same approaches.
In addition, all the entities that make up the Universal Energy Access Table share the same vision:
- Human rights approach. Commitment to ensure that the right to universal access to energy is recognized by the different organizations.
- Access as the responsibility of all people. Promote joint commitment and coordinated actions among all actors involved.
- Universal access to energy and human development. Contribute to the development of people through access to energy.
- Level of access to energy. The level of access to energy must be adequate to enable people to have a decent life.
- Sustainability. Interventions have to ensure the economic, environmental and social sustainability of access to electricity service.
- Innovation. Innovative service provision models with active participation of end users.
