24/03/2021Online

We held the "Luz en Casa Amazonia: a solution to shorten the electrification gap in isolated rural communities in the Peruvian Amazonia" online workshop as a closing event of the project with which we give electricity service to additional 1,107 households in Amazonian communities.

This event, which was mainly addressed to a Peruvian audience working in rural electrification, had the participation of representatives from acciona.org, the Technical University of Madrid, our partner in the project, AECID -the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation-, a co funder of the project, and province councils of the territories where the project has been implemented.

Jessica Olivares, manager at acciona.org in Peru, started the speeches by presenting the organization, our work in Peru since 12 years ago and the Luz en Casa Amazonia programme.

Then, the institutional representatives of the organizations directly involved in the project spoke: Jose Gabriel Martin, director at acciona.org, Santiago Iglesias, Institutional Promotion & University Extension deputy director at the Technical University of Madrid's School of Telecommunication Engineering, and Jose Luis Pimentel, general coordinator at the Spanish Cooperation Bureau in Peru.

Afterwards the main block of the event was developed with Eder Falcon, manager of the project at acciona.org, Cristina Ruiz, manager of Energy at acciona.org, and Santiago Iglesias presenting the model implemented, the improvements applied, the challenges faced, the results obtained and the lessons learnt with the project.

The last speakers were the representatives of the province councils where the project has been implemented: Boris Morey from the Requena province council and Rodolfo Diaz from the Mariscal Ramon Castilla province council who talked about what has meant the intervention in these territories.

Finally, a short questions & answers turn was developed and then Jessica Olivares closed the workshop by presenting the main conclusions.

This event had the Peruvian journalist Gonzalo Iwasaki as its presenter.
