ACCIONA Microenergia Peru participated in the Efficient Technologies Fair 2018, which was held by the Peru Ministry of Energy and Mines’ General Directorate of Energy Efficiency, within the International Day of Energy Efficiency.
This event gave ACCIONA Microenergia the opportunity of exhibiting its projects developed in Peru –Cajamarca and Napo river basin– and Mexico –the state of Oaxaca–, in a stand where it displayed representative pictures of such projects, and it showed a sample of a Third Generation Solar Home System, as well as compatible high-efficient electric devices; ACCIONA Microenergia bets on this efficient, clean, and robust technology for its Mexican projects since more than 5 years ago, and now it is also implemented in the Peruvian Amazonian.
In general, the fair had a large audience and many people visited the ACCIONA Microenergia’s stand. It was specially highlighting the visit of representatives of the Peruvian rural electrification sector, such as the Huanuco Regional Director of Energy and Mines, as well as the commercial managers of the electrical companies Electro Sur Este and Electro Puno, who asked for information about the management model and wanted to know about the possibility of ACCIONA Microenergia working in their area of operation. In addition, representatives of private companies installing solar home systems in rural areas demonstrated their interest in the activity, as well as students and professionals from different fields who asked about the management of the projects, the equipment operation and the fee fixed for beneficiaries. The majority of people visiting the stand congratulated ACCIONA Microenergia on working with the most disadvantaged communities of Peru.
ACCIONA Microenergia and the Sustainable Development Goals
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) are included in the 2030 Agenda, a 15-year plan of action that favours the people, the planet and the prosperity. There are 17 SDG which are integrated and indivisible and that comprise the three dimensions of the Development: economic, social and environmental.
The rural electrification programmes of the ACCIONA Microenergia Foundation impact on those three dimensions, and directly on the SDG 7, Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.
The participation in the Energy Efficiency Fair also impacts on the SDG17, Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development: ACCIONA Microenergia has spread and shared, among a varied audience, the use of really ecologically rational technologies, such as the third generation solar home systems and the high energy-efficient devices that could be run with them.
ACCIONA Microenergia Peru
It is a non-profit association that was created by the ACCIONA Microenergia foundation to facilitate access to electricity to isolated rural communities, which are not included in the national grid extension of Peru. It develops the ‘Luz en Casa’ programme in the Northern Mountains of Peru, in the department of Cajamarca, where it is an electricity public utility within the Peruvian regulation, and with a fee-for-service model that applies the official photovoltaic tariff. It is currently executing the Luz en Casa Napo 2017 project, in the Napo basin (Loreto districts of Napo and Mazan) with the aim of scaling up the sustainable technological and managerial model that is already validated in the Peruvian Amazonia.
